Ok, so heres the scoop. Our first major snowstorm of the year...everyone panics like it's armageddon..god you'd think after all these years of shovelling the shit and seeing storm after storm hit we'd be like..ok..a storm..who cares...but no, people begin to talk about the great storm of '92 or was it '93?!?! and then it's always the same..."oh and that storm they kept saying we were only going to get 3-5cm and we got all that snow"...funny person telling me the same line 5 minutes ago told me it was 15-20... And what the hell is with the huge fear of a power outage...Historically the power like...never goes out during snowstorms..and judging by the amount of NBpower trucks sitting in the Mill rd& Elmwood Tim Hortons it's not like it would be out long, I think they are ready.

So paranoia aside, people still persist that...oh..it's a big one..that seems to happen everytime we get a storm, people judge it and always come out with..."oh! thats a big one, remember that storm way back when..the whole city was shut down for a week and I couldn't "....Then people normally follow up with "it started quite a bit like this, slowly and built it's way up"...urmmm...hello! isn't that how ALL storms start? I mean..Tornados are normally preceded by thunder, lightning, hail....and well, hurricanes usually start with gusts of wind, some rain, then all hell breaks loose..snowstorms...big flakes, small gusts, smaller flakes, big gusts...shitty fucking weather, plows, damn storm of whenever the hell it was stories, then people shovel, and bitch, and then we wait for the next time.

So having written two paragraphs in which I bitch about people's constant need to go back to a storm in which very soon generations of kids will be like..what the fuck..the great storm of when? But when we tell it it'll be like..this isn't a storm, schools shouldnt be closed, in my day we had a storm once and we got like TEN FEET IN ONE DAY! and we went to school everyday, I had to walk a mile to school! So here for the record is the "actual" events. Let me go research and we'll see.

OK..here we go, 75 minutes of research has yielded that it happened in Feburary 1991 (yes over TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO) and brought us 163CM (73.094 inches). It was a blizzard and always was and lasted 110 hours or for those of you who can't do math is about 4\'bd days. So the real story is, we got a storm that lasted 4\'bd days back in Feburary 1991 and got a total of 73.094 Inches or 6'10" to be exact. So stop panicing people, we'd need one of these storms times FIVE in order to get that big storm again.

Last but not least, next time someone starts with that storm of '91 crap, punch em in the head! It's like..live in the present...ya know.."Oh, it's snowing pretty bad." End of sentance, all done, do not pass go and do not collect $200.00 dollars. Snow sucks, storms happen and when it comes down to it, live with it or fucking move, stop getting all excited..It's not like there isn't going to be another one next week!
